Unique velomobile serves dual purpose for Wilmette man

3:03 am CST January 28, 2015

John Boone has found an unusual way to stay in shape and get around.
The Wilmette resident is the owner of a pterovelo (ptero for winged, velo is French for bicycle), a man-powered vehicle. Boone’s particular model is called a velomobile.
While it may look like a spaceship, the velomobile is actually made of a three-wheel recumbent bike and carbon fiber.
People always ask him if it flies, Boone said, but noted that all feedback he’s gotten has been positive.
