With Sports Authority signing a lease to fill a vacant spot in Edens Plaza, the shopping center has filled its entire 344,000-square-foot capacity. The sporting goods chain announced April 24 it will open sometime near the end of this summer at the northeast corner of Lake Avenue and the Edens Expressway, specifically between Walgreens and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Wilmette’s Director of Community Development, John Adler, said the store didn’t need to go before the Village Board since the vacant space permitted Sports Authority’s retail use.
