Did you know that under President Bielinski, the village closed the Health Department ended the village nurse and sanitarian positions? You can read how seriously the village addressed public health around the turn of the prior century here. I can't include a link to the archived book found in Google Books "Revised Ordinances of the Village of Wilmette" But on page 36 is the table of contents for the board of health chapter, which reads: CHAPTER IX BOARD OF HEALTH 1.
